Procrastination

Like everyone there are some things I am extremely good at and some things, not so much. Like for instance, yoga, good at that, and thinking up what to make for dinner night after night, not so good at that. I am okay with my weaknesses, I mean we can't all be Lisa or Kirsten (love you babys, but your making the rest of us look bad) can we? Okay, reel myself back in, where was I? Yes, procrastinating, this is one of my special gifts, I am so good at this, the rest of you should feel inadequate. I leave for the airport in less than twelve hours for basically three weeks and guess what I've packed? Nothing. How many notes have I left for the dog sitter? None. Loads of laundry left to do? About four. What did I do with myself all day, one might wonder, ( I know Marc always does) well, normal day, went to the gym,Target, Post Office, bank, saw Kirstens shamanic healer, had a birthday lunch at Teikoku with Lisa and then had a cocktail with the 70 year old doctor that hangs out at the bar at Lisa's golf club. Just a regular day right? So here that leaves me back at home, ready to pack. But I'm not. Soon, very soon. First I have to get the kids care packages together, make a few calls, return a few e mails, maybe turn on the episode of Weeds I slept through last night, get our stuff together so we can get the hell outta Dodge. I'm not worried though, come 4:00 tomorrow afternoon I will be at the airport packed and ready to go. Just waiting to pull a Rachel and tell the airline attendant to bring me two more drinks and close me out. See you in Athens.

I think if you pack too early, it makes leaving seem to far away. If everything is done, what's there to do but WAIT. Screw that. I'm with you on the procrastination thing, all the way. I used to do yoga a few years ago. I bought a Sean Corn Dvd and loved it. Especially her hair. Any good suggestions on updating my yoga work out dvds? There are no classes near me. Used to be. Very country yoga. Naymaystay just doesn't have the same feel... let me know how much you love the lap top. Be safe!

Yet another thing we have in common, Amy. I'm the king of procrastination. It's not so much that we are lazy or irresponsible, but that we are slaves to the desire to do the most interesting things first and leave as little time as possible to do the least interesting things. That seems to me to be the best use of time, anyway, and I'd like to know exactly what is wrong with that. It reminds me of when our parents would claim, "You're always looking for the easy way out," as if that was a bad tactic. Who, in their right mind, is looking for the hard way? I'm going to miss talking to you, but at least I'll have your blog to stay connected.

We have a saying in our family ~ If you wait until the last minute, it only takes a minute to do. I'm supposed to be packing for 2 years. I'm reading blogs.

my sister is the expert packer who puts me to shame. zip loc bags full of every drug on the market, clothes for all weather and every occasion. me? i throw dirty laundry in a canvas tote, grab a sippy cup, a toothbrush or two and hope for the best. and you know what? we both get to where we need to go.

safe travels!

First of all...love the name of the blog...second of all...two words, Dream Dinners. Love this place. They do all the prep work, you put it together, freeze and pull it out later to dethaw and eat. No thought needed! Well, you do have to remember to pull it out of the freezer, which I tend to have a problem with it.
