More Bears and a Moose You Can See

Today was quite the animal seeing day. We saw the most adorable Mommy and baby bear. The baby was following the mommy all over the place. Sometimes he would linger somewhere and all of the sudden realize she had moved ahead and go scampering after her. Chase said it made his day and he just couldn't stop thinking about that baby. Here's a little FYI - don't be tricked by the names of the bears, a black bear or a grizzly bear could be any color, blond, black or brown. So there you have it. Also, many of the animals are tagged. I think they tag all the bears to track them. The collars are made to break off as the bear grows. Also, when a park ranger sees an animal by the road he will stay and "babysit" it. He will make sure it doesn't get hit and people don't get to close.

That is a good moose! What was his name? You guys must get such a thrill seeing these critters so close at hand. I liked the other comment when someone asked if Chase thinks he's part-bear and that he has to catch fish with his "bear" hands if he wants his supper. If he's a bear I think he's more like Winnie the Pooh than those wild ones. Does he like honey? Can't wait to see what you have in store for us today.

I love how you are telling us how Chase is reacting to everything. That is so our Chase. All boy but senative too.

Thank you for all the information; this is the kind of stuff I really like to know. I mean about the collar coming off when the animal outgrows it and the Ranger looking out for the animals. It is very important to protect them from people who can be miserably stupid and thoughtless when it comes to the environment. I often think it's the people who should be in cages and the animals allowed to roam free. Whew, sorry, a little rant there.
